ABOUT THE ARTIST - VALERIE BORGAL
Valerie grew up in Wilmington, MA, and enjoyed art throughout her childhood. She majored
in art throughout high school with the desire to teach art in the future. She is a
graduate of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts School, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. After
graduating in 1967, she married Thomas Borgal, had two boys and settled in Tewksbury, MA.
in 1973. Artwork was put on hold until the boys were in school. She joined the Tewksbury
Art Guild in 1977. The guild offered a workshop in watercolor which inspired Valerie to
start painting again. She attended classes and workshops in Kennebunkport with the late
Bette Wasserboehr, classes with Louise Anderson, and workshops with Paul George in
Gloucester and at Pemaquid Point in Maine.
Since 1992 she has participated in the Andover Art in the Park exhibit. She is a member of
the Andover's Artists Guild, Tewksbury Community of Artists, and Whistler House Museum of
Art - Lowell Art Association, Inc.
Between 1982 and 1996, she taught 2nd grade for 4 years and Kindergarten for 10 years at
the Fellowship Christian Academy in Methuen. While on staff at FCA, she taught high
school, Jr. high and elementary art classes.
She has held art classes in her home, teaching drawing, watercolor, and sculpture. This
past fall she started teaching a drawing class for adults at the Wilmington Art Center.

at the Lawrence Heritage State Park by the Arts Institute Group -2001
This exhibit is open to the public to view up until Feb. 23.

Valerie views her talent as a gift from God to be developed and used for His glory and to
