Biography of Pauline DeCarolis
Growing up Pauline DeCarolis occupied much of her childhood time experimenting
and learning how to draw on her own, which she soon learned was a passion. By
age sixteen she had started her formal art training by enrolling courses offered at Lowell
University where she was first introduced to the techniques of charcoal pencil.
Taking time off to raise a family of six children, Pauline resumed her formal training by studying under the well known and accomplished Rockport master Helen Van Wyke, (who is now deceased) who she credits with much of the development of her present skills and techniques in oils.
While Pauline still maintains that painting is a serious "hobby" with her, she has been commissioned on a number of occasions to create paintings to hang in Corporation board rooms, restaurants and private homes. She has been awarded a number of ribbons in local competitions, and currently teaching children out of her home basic drawing and painting skills and techniques, and an appreciation for life that includes the arts.
